Rock music

Rock music is a genre of popular music that originated as "rock and roll" in 1950s America and developed into a range of different styles in the 1960s and later, particularly in the United Kingdom and the United States. It has its roots in 1940s' and 1950s' rock and roll, itself heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music. Rock music also drew strongly on a number of other genres such as blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, classical and other musical sources.
Musically, rock has centered around the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group withbass guitar and drums. Typically, rock is song-based music usually with a 4/4 time signature utilizing a verse-chorus form, but the genre has become extremely diverse and common musical characteristics are difficult to define. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political in emphasis. The dominance of rock by white, male musicians has been seen as one of the key factors shaping the themes explored in rock music. Rock places a higher degree of emphasis on musicianship, live performance, and an ideology of authenticity than pop music.

Akado

The Akado (赤道[ɑk'ɑːdɔ], the red way; the bloody/bloodstained way) is a Russian rock band founded in 2002 which describes its stylistics as the intelligent visual rock. The sound of the band consists of many musical styles as industrial, gothic metal and dark ambient.
Special attention is paid to the exterior of the members of the group:
Our main idea is to be interesting to people not only by our music but by our exterior as well. This is what visual rock is.
— The creator and frontman of the band, Nikita “Shein” Shatenew.
History
Early years (2001–2003)
Nikita "Shein" Shatenew founded a rock band in a township Sovetsky in 2001 when he was still at school, Blokada, consisting of four classmates. They were: Nikita "Shein" Shatenew (lead vocals, songwriter, rhythm guitar), Igor "Lackryx" Likarenko (bass, recitative), Alexander Grechushkin (lead guitar) and Grigory "Green" Arkhipov (drums).
In 2002 they recorded and released a demo-album  The Silent Genealogical Self – Expression consisting of 13 tracks. There had been made 500 CD copies and sold in a short time. Soon the band was invited to various events, they gave several open-air and club concerts including the show in Tampere, Finland.
Creation of AKADO (2003-2007)
At the beginning of the year 2003, Shatenew, Likarenko and Arkhipov moved to Saints-Petersburg. It had been decided to change the name of the band. The old name had been chosen by accident and did not answer the conscious and desired ideology of the band. But they didn`t want to change the whole spelling of the word Blokada because the audience had used to it and some letters of this word were part of the logo of the band. So Shatenew singled out from this the brand new name, more pleasant, in his opinion, – AKADO. He attached to this word Japan hieroglyphs «red» (jp. 赤[ɑkɑ], «red color») and «way» (jp. 道['miti]or [dɔ], «way», «road»). Thereby this name denotes the red way and the members of the band gave it the meaning the bloody/bloodstained way. However, in Japanese these two hieroglyphs have another meaning and reading: (jp. 赤道[se'kidɔ), equator. The band gives to each person an opportunity to interpret this word as far as he understands and accepts.
At the first year in the university Nikita Shatenew met Anatoly «Stinger» Rubtsov who was very good at many computer and multimedia disciplines and composed electronic music. Subsequently Nikita made up his mind to make Anatoly the manager of the Akado. Meanwhile Shein invites his fellow-student Nikolay «Chaotic» Zagoruyko to the band on back vocals. So the band got an overdriven vocal (growling).
Shatenew defined the genre of the Akado as the «visual rock» and by his sketches ordered his first suit for concerts. The rest members of the band refused the visual part in their images. Soon the Akado recorded their first demo in the St.-Petersburg studio «DDT» - «animИЗМ». The CD was never released because something went wrong with the computer which kept the material. The same time Shatenew and Rubtsov created an official web-site.
Eventually all the group realized the success of the visual part and agreed to wear suits. At that time guys recorded and uploaded to the web a demo-track called “Ostnofobia”
In 2005, for a short period of time, the band was joined by DJ Katrin with whom they played several concerts. Then their ways parted, but later she made a couple of remixes on the Akado`s songs.
In 2006, the manager of the group Anatoly “Stinger” Rubtsov was invited to make samples and run the electronic part of their music. In the new line-up the band played a series of concerts, including their first show in Moscow.
In the same period, the group, while in St. Petersburg, began to work on a promo EP-album «Kuroi Aida» . Recording took place at the St. Petersburg studio "Egorov". During the recording of the material back-vocalist Chaotic decided to finish playing music and return to his home town Novosibirsk.
Wide fame (2007-2008)
In 2007 the group completed «Kuroi Aida». The mini-album included the tracks «Gilles De La Tourette», «Kuroi Aida», as well as remixes for the last two songs. There also was a remix that combined all three of the songs - «Oxymoron».
The album had been posted on the Internet for free download and was downloaded from the official site about 30 000 times. That year the group moved to Moscow.
Shatenew took the overdriven vocals besides pure on himself, and therefore decided not to play the guitar during live performances. So the group found a new member - guitarist Alexander «Vinter» Lagutin.A part of the overdriven vocals was also entrusted to Rubtsov («STiNGeR»).
To the role of the new manager came Anna Shafranskaya and immediately organized for AKADO several appearances at Moscow clubs.
Then the group shot their first video (on the song «Бо(ль)га») and performed in several cities in the CIS. The band took part in many photo-shoots.There had been many articles about them published in music and underground culture magazines. But in spite of the success, relations between the musicians were becoming more and more tense. Most of the group didn`t share Shein`s future plans and views so, in the result, by the time the band was preparing to record their debut album , Lackryx (bass), Green (drums) and Vinter (lead guitar) simultaneously left the group. There had left only two members in the band: Shein and STiNGeR.
New line-up (2008–2010)
For the five months the band virtually didn`t exist. After that Shein concluded the treaty of the line production with «Diagilev Production»but still had the right to be the art director and the music producer of the band.
In 2008 after the long search new musicians for the band were found: a bassist Artiom Kozlov, who got the nickname “Miomi” in the band and a drummer Vasily “Ghost” Gorshkov. A little later a guitarist Dmitry “Kelly” Yugay was accepted to the new official line-up of the band.
Shatenew chose the best of the old material and the band returned to rehearsals. They rearranged the old songs and started to work on new. At March 23, 2008 in the concert at the Moscow club “B2” the audience saw the new line-up, concert stuff and image of the Akado.
At that time the band concluded the treaty with the recording studio «Uniphonix» and recorded the new EP «Oxymoron № 2» which included the title track “Oxymoron № 2” composed by Miomi and the song “Dirty Easter” . Besides these two tracks, there were several remixes as the remix on «Oxymoron № 2» by the Britain DJ In'r' Voice made in the London Spiral Starship studio and the acoustic version of this song.
Latest events (2010-present)
In May 2010 after the long discussion and by mutual consent Anatoly “Stinger” Rubtsov (technics, keys, backing vocals) left the band. At the beginning of 2011 the band was looking for a new technician.

Formation and Beautiful Tragedy (2005–2008)
Beautiful Tragedy
In August 2005, singer Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth met through some common friends. After becoming acquainted, and finding that there was much in common between them, they began writing songs together. Soon thereafter they enlisted the help of Los Angeles drummer Jeff Fabb and formed the band Dying Star. Unhappy with where the band was headed, they decided to take on a new musical direction. By mid-2005, the lineup included Brink, Howorth, Fabb, guitarist Blake Bunzel, and bassist Josh Newell. The band recorded demos and posted them on MySpace. During the winter of 2005, Newell departed from the band to focus on his other project, Ketaset, as well as his audio engineering work. Producer Pascual Romero was then the bassist for a time before friend of the band Jesse Landry was eventually tapped to round out the band permanently. Rob "Blasko" Nicholson, the bassist for Ozzy Osbourne became the band's manager after discovering them through MySpace.
By the end of the 2005, In This Moment had generated a fanbase through internet marketing and do-it-yourself touring. This sparked an interest from Century Media Records, and a worldwide record deal followed. The band released their debut album Beautiful Tragedyon March 20, 2007, backed by the singles "Prayers", and title track "Beautiful Tragedy". The album was produced by Eric Rachel and combined sounds of metalcore and hard rock while the lyrics drew from Brink’s personal experiences about abandonment and tragedies. The vocals on the songs alternate between Brink’s singing and screaming. The band performed on several tours including The Hottest Chicks in Metal Tour 2007 with Lacuna Coil, Ozzfest in the summers of 2007 and 2008, Megadeth, and the Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne tour. Marilyn Manson

Brian Hugh Warner (born January 5, 1969), better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American rock musician and former music journalist known for his controversial stage persona and image as the lead singer of the eponymous band Marilyn Manson. His stage name was formed from juxtaposing the names of two American cultural icons, namely actress Marilyn Monroe and multiple murder convict Charles Manson as a critical and, simultaneously, laudatory appraisal of America and its peculiar culture. The seemingly outrageous visual and vocal styles he employs, his unique interpretations of familiar songs and the controversy surrounding his lyrics and imagery have led to his very pronounced public appeal.
Music
Manson formed together with guitarist Scott Putesky, Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids in Florida in 1989 (the name was shortened to Marilyn Manson in 1992). While with The Spooky Kids, he was involved with Jeordie White (also known as Twiggy Ramirez) and Stephen Gregory Bier Jr. (also known as Madonna Wayne Gacy) in two side-projects: Satan on Fire, a faux-Christian metal ensemble where he played bass guitar, and drums in Mrs. Scabtree, a collaborative band formed with White and then girlfriend Jessicka (vocalist with the band Jack Off Jill) as a way to combat contractual agreements that prohibited Marilyn Manson from playing in certain clubs. In the summer of 1993, the band drew the attention of Trent Reznor. Reznor produced their 1994 debut album, Portrait of an American Family and released it on his Nothing Records label. The band began to develop a cult following, which grew larger with the release ofSmells Like Children in 1995. That EP yielded the band's first big MTV hit with "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)," a cover of the 1983Eurythmics hit. Antichrist Superstar (co-produced by Trent Reznor) was an even greater success.
In the US alone, three of the band's albums have been awarded platinum certification, three more gold, and the band has had seven releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums. Manson first worked as a producer with the band Jack Off Jill. He helped name the band and produce most of the band's early recordings, and also played guitar on the song "My Cat" and had the band open most of his South Florida shows. Manson later wrote the liner notes to the band's album Humid Teenage Mediocrity 1992-1995, a collection of early Jack Off Jill recordings. Manson has appeared as a guest performer on DMX's album Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood and on Godhead's 2000 Years of Human Error album — the only album released on his vanity label Posthuman. In 2011 it was revealed that Manson was to appear on the singer Skylar Grey's album "Invinsible" on the track entitled "Can't Haunt Me".
Art
Manson stated in a 2004 interview with i-D magazine to have begun his career as a watercolor painter in 1999 when he made five-minute concept pieces and sold them to drug dealers. On September 13–14, 2002, his first show, The Golden Age of Grotesque, was held at the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions Centre. Art in America's Max Henry likened them to the works of a "psychiatric patient given materials to use as therapy" and said his work would never be taken seriously in a fine-art context, writing that the value was "in their celebrity, not the work". On September 14–15, 2004, Manson held a second exhibition on the first night in Paris and the second in Berlin. The show was named 'Trismegistus' which was also the title of the center piece of the exhibit – a large, three-headed Christ painted onto an antique wood panel from a portable embalmers table.
Manson named his self-proclaimed art movement Celebritarian Corporation. He has coined a slogan for the movement: “We will sell our shadow to those who stand within it.” In 2005 he said that the Celebritarian Corporation has been "incubating for seven years" which if correct would indicate that Celebritarian Corporation, in some form, started in 1998.
Celebritarian Corporation is also the namesake of an art gallery owned by Manson, called the Celebritarian Corporation Gallery of Fine Art in Los Angeles for which his third exhibition was the inaugural show. From April 2–17, 2007, his recent works were on show at the Space 39 Modern & Contemporary in Florida. 40 pieces from this show traveled to Germany's Gallery Brigitte Schenk in Cologne to be publicly exhibited from June 28 – July 28, 2007. Manson was refused admittance to Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral), when he was in the city to attend the opening night. This was, according to Manson, due to his makeup.
Manson revealed a series of 20 paintings in 2010 entitled Genealogies of Pain, an exhibition showcased at Vienna's Kunsthalle gallery which the artist collaborated on with David Lynch.
